Job Opportunity: Senior Systems Administrator

We are currently seeking a Senior Systems Administrator who will report directly to the CTO. This role is pivotal in maintaining the stability and performance of our systems, ensuring efficient and reliable operation in Unix and Linux environments.
Responsibilities:
- Installation, hardening, monitoring, and tuning of UNIX/Linux servers.
- Shared primary responsibility for all data center-related facilities issues (power, generators, cooling).
- Shared primary responsibility for all production servers, including application deployments and regular maintenance.
- Planning and patch management.
- Detailed technical documentation.
- Support for OSX desktop machines.
- Collaborate with and provide support to Development and QA users.
- Diagnose server hardware issues and perform related maintenance tasks (e.g., drive swaps, server rack-mounting).
- Utilize technical expertise to work with and maintain a variety of server-based applications such as Nagios, Jira, Git, Ansible.
- Understand and support other systems and applications as needed.
- Support and maintain network switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Participate in an on-call rotation (12pm – 8pm EST, one week every 4 weeks).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum combined education and experience totaling 6 years, preferably with 3 or more years of experience in Unix/Linux, MySQL, PHP, and Apache.
- Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
- Strong understanding of Application Layer Protocols such as HTTP, DNS, SMTP.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent system-level troubleshooting skills.
- Storage: Experience with SAN deployment and management. Specifically, NFS and iSCSI.
- Networking: Excellent basic TCP/IP routing skills and experience with BGP and OSPF would be ideal.
